Three sisters drowned in Ujina drain in Mewat on Friday morning.

Residents of Bichor village, the deceased have been identified as Ruksina (24), Rukmina (22) and Sahruna (17). Ruksina and Rukmina were married and had two children each, while Sahruna was unmarried.

According to the police, all three had gone to get fodder from the fields. Sahruna soiled her clothes and footwear in mud and went to wash them in the drain bordering the fields and slipped into the drain. Her sister Rukmina extended her hand to pull her out, but she too slipped. Ruksina raised the alarm. Rather than waiting for help, she rushed to pull them out and fell into the drain. By the time local residents and the police fished them out, they had died.
