Mahendragarh, April 12

Residents of various villages under the Nangal Choudhary region took out a march in Narnaul today in protest against the district authorities for not ensuring the closure of stone-crushing units allegedly being run in violation of the siting and pollution criteria.

“The National Green Tribunal (NGT) had, in July 2019, ordered the state authorities to shut down 72 stone-crushing units being run against the rules. In the meanwhile, some unit owners approached the Supreme Court against the order. The SC, in November 2020, transferred the case to the NGT, which directed the authorities to execute its orders, but no action has been taken against the units even after four months, causing great resentment among villagers,” said Tejpal Yadav, a protester and the complainant.
