Shimla, September 11
A two-day meeting of the state executive of Himachal BJP will be held here on September 19 and 20 to discuss present political scenario in the state and various programmes launched by the party in the run up to the Lok Sabha elections next year.
The meeting is being held close on the heels of National BJP executive meeting held in New Delhi on September 8 an 9.
The meeting to be presided over by state party chief Satpal Singh Satti will be attended by all the senior leaders like former chief ministers Prem Kumar Dhumal and Shanta Kumar, Union Minister JP Nadda, all the party MPs from the state, ministers and senior party leaders.
State executive meeting will be preceded by a meeting of state office-bearers of the party to be held in the afternoon on September 19 where all the members of state executive, presidents of various morchas, presidents and general secretaries of the district BJP units and members of national BJP executive committee from the state will attend.
The meeting will also deliberate on the strategy to counter the propaganda of Congress and other opposition parties and reach out to people with achievements of the NDA government at the Centre and the state government.
Pending issue of appointment of chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of corporations and boards is also likely to crop up at the meeting though leaders are reportedly divided on the issue. While a section of the party is of the view that the appointments be made at the earliest to end the prevailing uncertainty several leaders are of the view that the party should go slow on the issue as appointing a few leaders may create resentment among a large number of leaders eyeing key posts.
The state BJP chief Satti today held a meeting with BJP office bearers of Shimla (Urban), Shimla (Rural) and Kusumpti mandals and councilors regarding the arrangements for the meeting. He also distributed works to leaders, state party vice president Ganesh Dutt, Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Kusum Sardet and other leaders attend the meeting.
