On Saturday, two women from Una and Fatehpur area in Kangra district, with no travel history, had tested positive for COVID-19, hinting to community transmission in the state.

The two cases are the first in Himachal when someone with no travel history was infected with the virus.

Meanwhile, four more tested positive in Kangra on Sunday, taking the total number of cases in the district to 109.

Those who tested positive on Saturday include a 33-year-old resident of Kaliara village, who had travelled from Gurugram on May 26 and is at present under home-quarantine; a 46-year-old resident of Sagot village, who had travelled from Punjab on May 30 and is under institutional quarantine in Dhaliara area; a 51-year-old woman from Jagnoli village, in Fatehpur area, who has no travel history and is a secondary contact of an already COVID-19 person; and a 16-year-old Majeranu village, who had come back from Delhi on May 31.

All those who tested positive were shifted to the COVID containment centre in Dadh.

Kangra Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Prajapati said: “On Saturday, eight patients were discharged from COVID containment centres across the district.”

Those who recovered on Saturday include a 41-year-old female from Jawalaji, 30-year-old male from Daulatpur, 28-year-old female and her seven-year-old son from Kuther, 28-year-old man from Kamlehar, 42-year-old female from Sanghol, 27-year-old man from Thural and 60-year-old man from Indora.

Meanwhile, one more youth was tested positive for COVID-19 positive in Mandi on Sunday. The boy had travelled from Gurugram and arrived here on May 30. He is at present under home-quarantine.
