Kangra, March 5
Residents of the Mandir Bazar locality today protested and lodged a complaint against the local administration with the Kangra police following leakage of the sewerage chamber on the road leading to Bajjreshwari temple here.
Ravi Shanker, a resident along with six other complainants, lodged a complaint with the Kangra police demanding action for the lapse on part of the authorities of different departments. Ravi Shanker said water was leaking from underneath the tiles of the road leading to Bajjreshwari temple for nearly a week and the road had become slippery. He said it had not only put the residents to inconvenience but the pilgrims visiting the temple were troubled. The road is being used by the pilgrims to go to Bajjreshwari temple, he added.
Shanker said today the tiles were removed and the sewerage material was littered on the entire route leaving the residents and pilgrims in a lurch. He said the shopkeepers were forced to leave their shops and the pilgrims started searching for other routes to go to the temple. The foul smell spread in the area and the road was not worth using.
SDM Sheshi Pal Negi said he was not informed on the matter. He said when he was on his way to the temple in connection with the Navratra meeting, he found the leakage and directed the authorities concerned to do the needful.
Anil Kumar, SDO, sewerage, Kangra, said it was due to some blockage, and repair work was in progress.
The Kangra police said a complaint was received, which would be sent to the SDM tomorrow for action at his end. The SDM said when he would receive the complaint he would look into the matter.
