Nurpur, March 3
Following a tip-off, a police team of the Damtal police station in the Nurpur police district conducted a raid at a house in Chhanni village last night and seized 7.15-gram heroin from the possession of Daleep Kumar and his son-in-law Akashdeep, a resident of Mehtabpur in Mukerian (Punjab). Along with the drug, Rs 20,160 suspected drug money was also seized from their possession. Both were arrested after registering a case under Sections 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan said preliminary investigations revealed that Daleep was a habitual offender involved in theft and illicit liquor trade. As per his past criminal record, two theft cases had been registered against him at the Pathankot city police station in January 2010 and August 2015 whereas one theft case was registered by the Gurdaspur city police in April 2010, the SP added.
