The Department of Health Medical Education and Family Welfare (HME&FW) has declared the Mendhar health block in Poonch district as the best performing block in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Ashwani Kumar Chobey, Minister for HME&FW, on Saturday, felicitated Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, block medical officer (BMO), Mendhar, in Jammu at a simple but impressive function.
The Mendhar health block is situated near the Line of Control (LoC) and in accident-prone zone. Employees, including doctors and para-medical staff, have many a time saved lives by rescuing victims of cross-border shelling in ambulances amid heavy shelling by putting their lives at high risk.— OC
