Srinagar, January 29
Cold wave conditions intensified in Kashmir on Friday as mercury plunged by two degrees in Srinagar, while the minimum temperature elsewhere in the Valley stayed mostly 10 degrees below freezing point, officials said.
Srinagar city recorded the minimum temperature at -7.7°C — plunging more than two degrees from -5.6°C the previous night, the officials said.
Qazigund recorded the minimum temperature at -10.8°C — down from -10.5°C the previous night, they said.
The minimum temperature at the Gulmarg skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district settled at -11.3°C last night — up from the previous night’s -13.4°C.
Pahalgam recorded the minimum temperature at -12°C — marginally up from the previous night’s -12.3°C.
Kupwara recorded the minimum temperature at -3°C, while Kokernag, in the south, -11.4°C. — PTI
