Srinagar, February 14

Paying tribute to the 40 CRPF personnel killed in the Pulwama suicide attack four years ago, the BJP today said the countdown to militancy’s end in Kashmir began after that attack and has now come to a close.

“The PM took a strong step and twice launched strikes inside Pakistan to teach it a lesson. Today terror and terrorism in Kashmir is a dead story,” said Altaf Thakhur, BJP spokesperson and senior leader, while talking to reporters after paying tributes to the martyrs.

Refering to a recent incident in which two workers from Punjab were killed, Thakur said the militant involved in the killings was arrested within 48 hours by the police. “The present Jammu and Kashmir is new where terrorism has no role. Pulwama happened but it was also the last nail in the coffin of the militancy,” he added.

“On this day, these soldiers were martyred. We are here to pay tributes to them. But on this day, the government took a decisive step and ended terrorism in J&K,” he added.
