Phagwara: The Nakodar city police have arrested a person for stealing a motorcycle. Investigating officer (IO) Rannjit Singh said the suspect had been identified as Manni Nahar, alias Manni, a resident of Mohalla Udham Singh Nagar, Nakodar. The IO said the suspect was intercepted at a naka and a stolen motorcycle was recovered from his possession. The bike was stolen from the court complex two days ago. A case under Sections 379 and 41 of the IPC has been registered. OC
Man held under Excise Act
Phagwara: The Lohian Khas police have arrested a person on the charge of selling and brewing illicit country-made liquor. The suspect has been identified as Sham, a resident of Chacho Wal village. Investigating officer Parwinder Singh said six bottles of hooch and 150 kg of lahan (raw liquor) were recovered from his possession. A case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act has been registered against the suspect. OC
Goods stolen from shop
Phagwara: The Nakodar city police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing goods from a shop. Kamaljit Kumar, a resident of Mohalla Ravi Das Pura, Nakodar, complained to the police that thieves barged into his tyre service shop on the night of February 2 and stole goods. Investigating officer Rannjit Singh said a case had been registered against unidentified persons. OC
PO lands in police net
Phagwara: The Mehat Pur police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO), who was absconding for the past few days. Investigating officer (IO) Davinder Singh said the accused had been identified as Lekh Raj, a resident of Muzaffar Pur village falling under the Nakodar city police station. He was wanted in a case of drug peddling registered in 2022 and declared a PO recently. OC
3 nabbed for stealing cables
Phagwara: The Sadar police have arrested three persons on the charges of stealing cables and other electrical goods from an Airtel tower installed in Palahai village near Phagwara on Wednesday night. The suspects have been identified as Balkar Singh, Palwinder Singh and Gurmukh Singh, all residents of Phagwara. A case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC has been registered.
