Jalandhar, May 25

Various rights’ organisations today held a protest against the death of a Faridkot youth in mysterious circumstances in police custody.

Under the banner of the Youth for Swaraj, activists of the Pendu Mazdoor Union, Istri Jagriti Manch, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Academy of Punjabi Peoples, Punjab Students Union, Jamhorri Adhikar Sabha Punjab, People Voice, Sahit Kala Kendar, Parvaaz Rang Manch, Naujawan Bharat Sabha, Journalist Press Club, Tarksheel Sabha and the BSP today held a protest against the death of the youth.

Members of the groups demanded action against the persons responsible for the death of Jaspal Singh in police custody. Jaspal had been arrested by the CIA staff from a gurdwara at Rattirori village in Faridkot  and later died in police custody.

The activists formed a human chain at BMC Chowk. Pendu Mazdoor Union activist Kashmir Singh Ghugshore said various groups had taken out a march against the mysterious death of the Faridkot youth.

The activists gathered at the Desh Bhagat Yadgaar hall and later reached the chowk and held sloganeering. They also announced that the protest will continue till the youth’s family gets justice. They demanded that the case had been investigated by a sitting judge. Demanding the arrest of ASI Gurlal Singh, they sought justice for the aggrieved family.
