Jalandhar, February 24
A delegation of members of various Sikh organisations of Phagwara today met Union Cabinet Minister Som Parkash at his residence.
Members of the Alliance of Sikh Organisations, Bharti Kisan Union, Doaba, and Akal Students Federation met the union minister with a memorandum of their demands.
They demanded that the NSA be removed from prisoner Amritpal Singh and his aides who are lodged in the Dibrugarh jail in Assam and all Sikh prisoners be shifted to a jail in Punjab.
The Sikh organisations also appealed to the minister to address the demands of Amritpal and other associate Sikh prisoners who had been on hunger strike regarding various issues. They appealed to the minister to take up the issue with the Union Home Minister so that it could be solved at the earliest.
They also demanded the release of all Sikh prisoners in keeping with the notification issued by the Central Government during the 550th Parkash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev in 2019.
The organisations also demanded that atrocities on farmers at the Khanauri and Shambhu borders should be stopped and their demands be met at the earliest.
