Smuggler held, 16 bovines rescued

JAMMU: A bovine smuggler was arrested by the police and 16 bovines rescued in Samba district of Jammu on Tuesday.

A bovine smuggler was arrested by the police and 16 bovines rescued in Samba district of Jammu on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off received at the Ghagwal police station about bovines being smuggled to Srinagar, the police intercepted a truck (JK02AL-6689) coming from the Kathua side at a naka on the Tapyal highway. During checking 16 bovines were found from the vehicle.

Balbir Singh of Chatha Pind, Jammu, has been arrested and the vehicle used for transporting the bovines was impounded.

A case has been registered at Ghagwal.
