A view of Tel Aviv university

The M.A. in Developing Countries is a new 2020 programme by Tel-Aviv University seeks to train pioneering and entrepreneurial students from around the world to become leaders in the field, whether in academia, civil society, or industry. The programme combines class-based and experiential learning.

This programme will help students take an active role in developing and field-testing practical and innovative solutions to crucial development challenges that combine technological, cultural, psychological, and economic-behavioral dimensions. A particular emphasis is on engaging with Israel’s technological innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and its own development experience.

The programme prepares students for a variety of careers in the fields of diplomacy, corporate social responsibility and social change management across the globe.

Eligibility for Indian students: Students with a bachelor’s  (or MA) degree in any discipline, including engineering, social science, data science, management, physics, and life sciences, with a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or 80 on a 100-point scale can apply for the program. Students with entrepreneurial spirit and who aspire to become pioneers of sustainable development should apply for the course.

Programme delivery: Keeping in mind case of restrictions connected to the COVID-19 situation, this programme has put in place an alternative of long-distance learning. If physical presence is not possible, students will be able to participate in courses remotely and once permitted, resume in person without this affecting their ability to complete the programme. Many field studies are planned in India.

This programme integrates training in the theoretical foundations and the practical skills relevant to the study and practice of sustainable development.

Duration: The programme lasts 4 semesters, the first 2 at Tel-Aviv University and then the third semester either in Israel or in a developing country where Tel Aviv University is working with local partners from academia, civil society, and industry. The fourth semester is dedicated to guided research and thesis writing based on the third semester’s fieldwork.

Application process and admission: Applicants can apply for the course using online application form at https://portal.telavivuniv.org/createprofile.php
