A muted, natural look works the best in summer. So, keep the shimmer aside and go for a matte-finish look.

As the summer season sets in, we dig into our cupboards to get the coolest fabrics out. What is a cool outfit with a melting makeup, a smeared eyeliner or a super-sticky lipstick. 

The weather plays an important role in the kind of products you should use for your face. Here are some of the much needed tips to keep in mind while doing your makeup during summer:

Avoid the heat

Always keep your make-up products in a cool place.

It maintains the composition and consistency of the mousse, eyeliners, BB creams or foundation you may apply. Always apply your make-up with an air-conditioner on, so that the make-up doesn’t oxidize while you wear it.

Apply ice pack

This step is important for oily skin as the sebaceous glands are more active in summer and oil and sweat can completely ruin the look. Put some ice cubes in a clean plastic bag and apply it directly onto your skin after you are done washing your face. It will help close your pores and your foundation will not oxidize so quickly.

Keep it dull 

Avoid wearing a base as much as possible. Some of us simply stop wearing make-up in summer because it tends to bleed. You must buy a separate base for summer as we sweat a lot. Despite the fact that the wedding season is usually in winter, there are times when we may have to wear make-up for some special occasions. For such occasions one must buy a matte-finish sheer coverage foundation and one might have to reapply after sometime if your skin is oily.

For daily use, a tinted moisturizer is the best with a good concealer wherever needed.

Proper hydration

All heavy moisturizers can feel sticky in summer. Switch to an oil-free moisturiser as hydration is equally important in summer as in winter. Other than a moisturizer, keep yourself hydrated by a proper intake of water or your skin will look parched.

Use sun block

Apply a matte finish/gel based sunscreen in summer even under make-up for the protection of your skin. You must reapply the sunscreen every 2 hours.

For your eyes

Use minimal make-up on your eyes. Loud colours should be avoided in summer. Use waterproof liners and smudge-proof pencils so that they don’t bleed away due to sweat and oil on the skin.

Skip the shimmer

Do not use a highlighter no matter how tempted you are to use one. It will only make you look more sweaty in the hot and humid weather.

Set the base

Don’t forget to set your foundation with a good loose powder. It will make your foundation last longer. Take your time to bake the base and dust off the excess powder. Last but not the least, spritz an oil-control setting spray before you step out.

Make-up tends to move around in the heat. As much as we may try and avoid it from melting, it may seem to take its own course. However, by keeping in mind the tips mentioned above we can ensure looking our best even in this scorching heat.
