Ludhiana: Anti-Smuggling Cell of the Ludhiana police recovered 25,000 litre of lahan near the Sutlej on Saturday. Yashpal Sharma, in charge of the cell, said they received a tip-off that some smugglers were making liquor at Rajapur village, near Ladhowal. The police raided the spot and seized the lahan. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against unknown suspects. Later, the seized lahan was destroyed on the spot. TNS
One held with 17 cases of liquor
Ludhiana: The Shimlapuri police have nabbed a liquor smuggler with 17 cases of illicit liquor. He has been identified as Vishal Vidlan of Gill Colony. The police said they set up a naka on Gill Road following a tip-off. A car driven by Vidlan was signalled to stop. A search of the car led to the recovery of the illicit liquor. TNS
