Ludhiana, September 12

Ludhiana district today saw 435 fresh cases of Covid-19. It is the second highest spike in a day after 462 positive cases reported on August 21. The number of positive cases has reached 13,445. Besides, 13 persons lost their lives to the virus taking the death toll to 571.

At present, 39 patients are on ventilator support at Covid centres. A maximum of 136 cases were reported from flu corners and 113 from OPDs. Nine healthcare workers and four policemen were among positive cases.

Those who lost their lives include six men and seven women. They were in the age group of 40-60 years except one who was 92 years old. They had co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney diseases.

The deceased were residents of Aggar Nagar, Salem Tabri, Sarabha Nagar, Aman Park, Basti Jodhewal, New Vishnupuri, Bajra village, Ansal Enclave, BRS Nagar, Kanganwal village and Daepai village.

Dr Bishav Mohan, a member of Sanjivani, has asked people not to afraid of this disease but to fight it. He urged people to not give into rumours doing the rounds on social media platforms. He also made it clear that there was no truth that the government or the doctors were getting funds for the treatment of each Covid patient.
