Mandi Ahmedgarh, December 10

Administration’s movement to identify students suffering from visual ailments has received support from social and medical organisations. Various seminars and workshops were organised to spread awareness about causes and consequences of eye ailments among teenagers.

President Municipal Council Suraaj Mohammad said office bearers and activists of organisations led by the President Lions Club and acting president Surinder Pal Sofat had announced to associate with the crusade launched jointly by civil and health authorities to check eye ailments among students of government and private schools of the region.

Mohammad said teams of volunteers supervised by Dr Ravinder Sharma and Dr Sunit Hind had already started organising seminars and workshops for spreading awareness about eye care.

SDM Dr Poonam Preet Kaur and Senior Medical Officer Dr Pritabha Sahu Verma had earlier kicked off the movement during a function held at MGMN Senior Secondary School. As many as 324 students of various government schools were provided spectacles during first phase of programme.

Dr Rajesh Garg, ophthalmic surgeon at Community Health Centre, said students of government schools falling under jurisdiction of subdivision Ahmedgarh were screened for various eye ailments and corrective measures were taken to check deterioration of vision of the affected students. Teams of ophthalmic assistants led by Ophthalmic Officer Rulda Singh also trained desirous teachers for undertaking preliminary examination of students of their respective schools.— OC
