Ludhiana: Ludhiana: The police have booked a man and recovered 40-kg poppy husk allegedly from his vehicle from Alamgir village under the Dehlon police station. The accused has been identified as Varun Sarda of Alamgir village. Cops claimed that the accused had brought the drug from outside state. They claimed that the accused had stationed his vehicle near the village and waiting for the customers. However, the accused after seeing the police managed to escape but 40-kg poppy husk has been recovered from truck, the police said. A case under sections 15, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused. TNS

Man succumbs to injuries

Ludhiana: A 25-year-old man succumbed to injuries four days after he was hit by an unidentified vehicle. The deceased has been identified as Krishan Kumar. Victim’s brother, Vipan Kumar, of Maha Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, said his younger brother was returning to home on night of February 28 when an unidentified vehicle hit his bike near Itta Wala Chowk. He was under treatment at DMCH and passed away on March 3. The police have registered a case at the Shimlapuri police station against unidentified person. TNS

Properties of pos attached

Raikot: The Ludhiana (Rural) police have attached the properties of proclaimed offenders booked under five separate cases registered at various police stations of the district. The value of the attached property was estimated to be Rs1,92,43,125. Ludhiana (Rural) Senior Superintendent of Police Charanjit Singh Sohal said properties worth Rs1,92,43,125 belonging to proclaimed offenders booked in various cases at the Hathur, Mehlan and Dakha police stations was attached during a special campaign launched by the department for taking the cases to a conclusive end. “While we have arrested one proclaimed offender, Sukhdeep Singh, wanted in connection with a case registered at the Dakha police station under section 382, 506 of IPC and got PO Avneet Singh of Jagraon police station deleted due to his death, property of those declared PO in connection with five other criminal cases were attached,” said the SSP.
