63rd Punjab Schools Inter-District Games: Muktsar, Barnala, Fazilka girls share honours

Ludhiana: Girls from Muktsar, Barnala and Fazilka shared honours by winning titles in the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories, respectively, in carrom on the fourth and penultimate day of the 63rd Punjab Schools Inter-District Games-2017 being held here on Thursday.

Ludhiana: Girls from Muktsar, Barnala and Fazilka shared honours by winning titles in the Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 categories, respectively, in carrom on the fourth and penultimate day of the 63rd Punjab Schools Inter-District Games-2017 being held here on Thursday. Matches were played at BVM Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar, where in the Under-14 category, Muktsar outplayed hosts Ludhiana to clinch the title, whereas Faridkot beat Fazilka to secure the third position. In the girls’ Under-17 section, Barnala beat Muktsar to emerge champions and Sangrur outplayed Fazilka to finish at the third place. Similarly, in the Under-19 group, Fazilka edged out Faridkot to romp home champions, while hosts Ludhiana defeated Barnala to content with the third position. Meanwhile, in handball (girls’ U-19), hosts Ludhiana and Amritsar came out victorious in their respective semifinals to storm into the final at the PAU campus ground. Ludhiana beat Ropar 23-14 and Amritsar defeated Bathinda 18-10 to settle for the title clash. Principal, Gubakhshish Singh declared fourth day’s proceedings open. Bikramjit Bhanot, AEO, Ludhiana, Gurvinder Singh, Rachhpal Singh, Manpreet Singh, Harjeet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Malwinder Singh, Dalvinder Singh, Jaspreet Singh, Deepak Kumar, Rup Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Kewal Krishan, Baljeet Kaur, Balwinder Kaur and Inderjeet Kaur were also present on the occasion.
