With the authorities concerned allegedly failing to show seriousness in controlling road accidents, Ludhiana continues to witness deaths on roads. A member of national road safety council, Kamal Soi, has claimed that the Ludhiana witnesses a death on city roads every day. At least 40 deaths have been reported in the month of January this year, Soi claims.

While addressing media persons today, Kamal Soi, Chairman of NGO Raahat - The Safe Community Foundation, shared his concern about the lackadaisical attitude of law-enforcement agencies and also the lack of interest among politicians when it comes to talk about the need for regulating traffic habits. The fatality rate in accidents in the city is 68 per cent, putting Ludhiana among the cities with most dangerous roads in the entire country, he said.
