‘Aap Di Sarkar, Aap De Dwar’, a novel initiative of the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government in the state to deliver public services and redress public grievances on the doorsteps of residents, has evoked an overwhelming response in the district, the administration has said.

Ludhiana, which is the biggest and largest district in the state, in terms of area and population, has recorded the second highest footfall in the state in the doorstep public services delivery and grievances redressal camps held in different parts of urban and rural areas on Wednesday.

While over 86 per cent of the total public services applied for at 49 camps were delivered on the spot, almost 74 per cent of the total public grievances received were resolved on the spot during the single day on Wednesday.

Sharing the daily progress report, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney told The Tribune here on Thursday that as many as 49 camps, which were the maximum in the state, were held across the district on Wednesday, which was the second day of the month-long state-wide campaign to reach out to the public by holding such camps.

Sakshi, who herself visited most of the camps to supervise the services being offered and interact with the public visiting the camps, said as many as 3,500 persons visited 49 camps in the district on Wednesday, which was the second highest footfall after Amritsar in the state.

She said the public applied for 1,100 various types of services at the camps on Wednesday, of which 950, which accounted for 86.36 per cent, were delivered on the spot while the process was initiated to deliver the remaining 150 services at the earliest.

The camps received 35 public grievances of different nature, of which 25 were addressed on the spot, which turned out to be 73.53 per cent, while the officials concerned were directed to resolve the remaining nine public grievances on a priority basis.

Among other districts, Amritsar delivered 363 of the total 633 public services applied for and resolved two of the total eight public grievances received at the camps on Wednesday, Barnala delivered 104 of the 256 services, resolved none of the two grievances, Bathinda delivered 615 of the 770 services, resolved 43 of the 94 grievances, Faridkot delivered 81 of the 215 services, resolved 68 of the 101 grievances, Fatehgarh Sahib delivered 226 of the 293 services, resolved the lone grievance, Fazilka delivered 1,284 of the 1,604 services, resolved 144 of the 233 grievances, Ferozepur delivered 49 of the 98 services, resolved none of the six grievances, Gurdaspur delivered 887 of the 1,239 services, resolved 37 of the 75 grievances, Hoshiarpur delivered 765 of the 1,171 services, resolved 108 of the 110 grievances, Jalandhar delivered 703 of the 817 services, resolved four of the 18 grievances, Kapurthala delivered 42 of the 134 services, resolved none of the single grievance, Malerkotla delivered 469 of the 489 services, resolved 23 of the 35 grievances, Mansa delivered 600 of the 974 services, resolved 8 of the 11 grievances, Moga delivered 16 of the 54 services, received no public grievance, Pathankot delivered 42 of the 173 services, resolved 71 of the 72 grievances, Patiala delivered 572 of the 858 services, resolved 89 of the 91 grievances, Ropar delivered 210 of the 269 services, resolved 39 of the 75 grievances, Mohali delivered 538 of the 579 services, resolved 57 of the 63 grievances, Sangrur delivered 94 of the 229 services, resolved 103 of the 211 grievances, Nawanshahr delivered 372 of the 421 services, resolved none of the four grievances, Muktsar delivered 712 of the 872 services, resolved 114 of the 115 grievances, and Tarn Taran delivered 75 of the 229 services and resolved none of the single public grievance received on Wednesday.

Public delivery on doorsteps: DC

“The Aap Di Sarkar, Aap De Dwar initiative is aimed at providing citizen services and resolving public grievances on the doorsteps of the people. Instead of public visiting government offices, the administration is reaching out to the people through public services delivery and grievances redressal camps being held at 45 to 50 different locations on a daily basis. We are encouraging the public to visit the camps in large numbers and take maximum benefit of the initiative, which is the brainchild of the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann,” said Sakshi Sawhney, Deputy Commissioner

Departments involved

The officials concerned from the Revenue, Sewa Kendras, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, Social Security and Development of Women and Children, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Health, Water Supply and Sanitation, PSPCL, Rural Development and Panchayats, Food Supply Labour, Police and other departments are providing on-the-spot public services and resolving grievances at the camps on a daily basis.

Services offered

The government services, including birth or death certificates, affidavit attestations, stipend to children of beneficiaries, residence certificates, SC certificate, registration of construction workers, pension to old age persons, BC certificates, electricity payments, addition of name in birth certificates, inspection of revenue records, registration of marriage (compulsory), multiple cases of death certificates, renewal of construction worker cards, correction of entry in birth certificates, issuance of death/ NAC certificates, rural area certificates, multiple copies of birth certificates, general caste certificates, pension to widow/ destitute citizens, non-encumbrance certificates, equity entry of mortgage, delayed entry of birth certificates, income certificates, pension to handicapped persons, fard (revenue record) generation, apply for disability certificates (UDID), countersigning of documents, registration of marriages (under Anand Marriage Act), shagun scheme, pension to dependent children, border area certificates, delayed registrations of death, counter signing of documents of NRIs, counter signing of police clearance certificates, correction of entry in death certificates, and Kandi area certificate, are being offered to the people on the spot at the camps.
