Ludhiana, January 12

As the Municipal Corporation (MC) has to construct a road along the Buddha Nullah, a number of encroachments will be removed soon in areas falling under the Ludhiana North constituency. A road already exists on the one side of the nullah and it has now planned to construct a road on the opposite side, particularly in the vicinity of New Deep Nagar and other surrounding areas, as per information.

MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi along with MC officials and the area MLA inspected the sites along the nullah and issued directions to the officials for the removal of encroachments. They have also been instructed to remove hurdles in implementation of the project to construct the road.

In the course of inspections carried out near Chander Nagar, Vivek Nagar, New Deep Nagar and various other locations, the officials from the Municipal Corporation were instructed to eliminate specific encroachments by private individuals. The encroachments had been creating obstacles for the ongoing road construction project. Numerous encroachments had previously emerged along the nullah. Following a survey, the corporation had previously carried out multiple anti-encroachment drives. However, still there are a number of encroachments.

Meanwhile, the officials were directed to bridge the gap so that the road could be constructed on the other side of the nullah near Chand Cinema. MC officials have also been instructed to expedite different development projects being taken up in the constituency, including redevelopment of parks and installation of tube wells.

The officials said that construction of a road along the nullah will not only facilitate the residents living in the vicinity of the nullah, but it will also streamline the movement of traffic.
