Harjinder wins men’s TT title

Ludhiana, July 12

Harjinder Singh got the better of Manmeet Singh to clinch the title in the men’s singles category in the 3rd Ludhiana Veterans Table Tennis Competition that concluded at Aspire TT Academy, Model Town, here on Monday.

In the final, Harjinder survived some anxious moments against his opponent before coming out triumphant in three sets 11-9, 13-11 and 11-7.

Earlier, in the semifinals, Harjinder outperformed Munish 11-8, 9-11, 11-5 and 11-7, while Manmeet beat Ramakant in straight sets 11-6, 11-4 and 11-9 to seal berths in the final.

In the team championship, Ludhiana contingent outplayed Himachal squad to lift the winners’ trophy whereas in the lucky doubles’ group, Manmeet Singh and Munish outplayed Alkesh and Jaspal Singh 11-8, 11-7 and 11-9 to annex the title.

Jaspal Singh, former table tennis coach with the Sports Authority of India gave away prizes to the position holders.
