A delegation of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) met the former prime minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh, in New Delhi. Ashwani Sekhri, chairman of JAC; Dr Anshu Kataria, president of the Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA); and Nirmal Singh, president of the ETT Federation, were part of the delegation.
In the 45-minutes long meeting, Ashwani Sekhri laid emphasis on the problems which may arise for small unaided colleges of India, as per the new draft of education policy.
Dr Anshu Kataria said: “The JAC will hold a Punjab-level education summit of stakeholders at the end of June, in which four education ministers, secretary and directors related to schools, higher education, technical education, medical education, among others, will participate. After the summit, the report would be submitted to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh, and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.”
