After a long time, various schemes developed and maintained by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) seem to be in for a makeover. At a meeting of the Trust convened here today, second after new chairman Ram Balasubramanium took over, development works with a cost of more than Rs 4.22 crore were approved.

The works which received the nod at the Trust meeting were construction of main and internal roads in Maharishi Valmiki Nagar at an estimated cost of Rs 231.32 lakh, laying of interlocking tile in commercial pocket of the same scheme (in front of SCF Nos. 1 to 56) parking site at a cost of Rs 48 lakh, road works in Block C and D of Rajguru Nagar at a cost of Rs 89.79 lakh and laying interlocking tiles in the parking site of the same scheme at a cost of Rs 49.93 lakh.

The Trust also accorded its nod to a rainwater drainage project in Block H of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar at an expenditure of Rs 3.48 lakh and installation of a new submersible pump at the Rajguru Nagar scheme.

In a bid to provide relief to allottees of residential plots in D Block of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, the Trust decided to reschedule the payment of instalments as the possession of the land was secured after a very long time and consequently physical possession of the plot to the allottees was handed over quite late after allotment.

Registration of bidders for online auction of properties in various colonies of the Trust commenced today from 11.00 am onwards. The registration would remain open till September 23 at 2 pm and online bidding would take place on September 24 from 9 am to 3 pm. The LIT has made an offer for sale of 15 built-up booths in Maharishi Valmiki Nagar, seven booths in Kitchlu Nagar, five booths in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and nine shop-cum-flats in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar.
