Ludhiana, April 12
The College of Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynaecological, and the Nursing Department, Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), celebrated National Safe Motherhood Day under the theme, “Remain at home amid Covid, protect mother and infant from virus”, by organising an exhibition for young couples planning for parenthood, antenatal and postnatal mothers at the Gynae OPD of the hospital.
Dr Ashwani K Chaudhary, Medical Superintendent, professor and head, Department of Neurosurgery, said special attention needs to be paid to prevent and minimise the maternal death rate.
Dr Triza Jiwan highlighted the importance of nurses in safe motherhood. She said, “Our primary focus is on improving nursing and techniques as nurses are frontline workers and have better reach amongst the masses especially in the poorly served rural communities.”
Prof Nidhi Sagar unfolded the theme of the Safe Motherhood Day, 2022.
