Ludhiana, February 23

Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, SAD leader and former minister Maheshinder Singh Grewal has challenged Ludhiana MP Ravneet Bittu to “show one thing he had done for the city in past five years”. Grewal, who is among the claimants for SAD ticket from Ludhiana, accused the MP of “trying to take false credit for the Smart City as well as Elevated Road projects”.

The Akali leader said the MP should “not try to appropriate projects initiated by the previous SAD-BJP government”. He said the Smart City project was conceived, sanctioned and even partially implemented during the SAD-BJP tenure. Grewal said even the Rs 1,100-crore Elevated Road project from Samrala Chowk to Ferozepur octroi post was sanctioned during the SAD-BJP regime. “Bittu did not have any role to play in both projects. He has even failed to get even a single penny released out of the Rs 3,600-crore worth projects announced by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for Ludhiana,” alleged Grewal.

Bittu was not available for comment.
