Ludhiana: The PAU police have registered a case of attempt to murder against a man and the members of his family after his wife was allegedly attacked by them. Those booked have been identified as Raman Khosla, Ravi Khosla, Kamlesh Khosla, Ashwani Mehta, Monica Arora and Vipan Sharma, all residents of Dev Nagar, Hambran Road. Neha Khosla told the police that she got married to Raman in 2017. Later, she came to know that he did not inform her about his previous two marriages. His family had been demanding more dowry from her and recently, Raman asked her to bring a luxury car. On June 12, all suspects attempted to kill her and they also threw her out of the house. The police said raids were being conducted to nab the suspects. TNS
Travel agent booked
The Division 5 police have booked a woman travel agent on the charge of duping a resident of on the pretext of sending him abroad. The suspect is a resident of Sector 32 A, Jamalpur. Dharminder Singh of Civil Lines told the police that the suspect, who owned Kular Education in Model Town, promised to send his son abroad on a study basis, and took Rs 17.77 lakh for the job. But she failed to arrange visa and later refused to return about Rs 9 lakh to the complainant. The police launched further probe into the case. tns
Liquor peddler held in city
The police have nabbed a liquor peddler and recovered 48 bottles of liquor from his possession. The suspect has been identified as Kavvy (27) of Basti Jodhewal. He works at Dal Bazaar, but recently left the job and started peddling liquor. Acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed him at a naka in Vijay Nagar. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against him. TNS
