Man booked for kidnapping girl
Ludhiana: The police have booked a man on the charge of kidnapping a minor girl. He has been identified as Raja of Janakpuri. The complainant, Ghanaiya Lal, told the police that on January 18, Raja took his daughter along on the pretext of marrying her. The police have launched a manhunt to trace the girl. TNS
Woman duped of Rs 2.9 lakh
Ludhiana: The police have booked two travel agents on the charge of duping a woman of Ra 2.9 lakh on the pretext of sending her abroad. They have been identified as Ashwani Kumar and his son Arman, who owns Arman Travels situated on Radha Soami Marg, Jamalpur. The complainant, Maninder Kaur of Mahadipur village, told the police that suspects took Rs 2.9 lakh from her to arrange a work permit visa of Canada but they failed. TNS
Tributes paid to Mahatma Gandhi
Ludhiana: Ludhiana (Urban) president Ashwani Sharma said Congress workers observed the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi and paid tributes to the Father of the Nation on Wednesday at the office of the District Congress Committee. “We remembered the Father of Nation who taught us the lesson of non-violence. Freedom fighters remembered
Ludhiana: Tributes were paid to the great freedom fighters and martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country, at the District Administrative Complex under the aegis of Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal. Civil and police officials and employees paid homage and observed a two-minute silence at 11 a.m. The Deputy Commissioner said, “We must feel proud of our martyrs. Every citizen is enjoying the independence due to their struggle and sacrifice.” He paid homage to the martyrs on behalf of the district administration and made an appeal to the officials, employees and citizens to put in their efforts to make India a country of the dream of the martyrs. Woman goes missing
Ludhiana: A 26-year-old woman went missing under mysterious circumstances. Complainant Bhadu Ram of Ambedkar Nagar said on January 18, his daughter Lakshmi had gone to meet her sister living in Islam Ganj but she did not reach there. They also searched her at various places but she could not be found. The girl’s father suspected that she could have been kept under illegal confinement by some unknown persons. The police, after registering a case, have launched manhunt to trace the girl. TNS
Minor kidnapped, one booked
Ludhiana: The city police have booked a man on the charges of kidnapping a minor girl. The accused has been identified as Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Moga. Complainant Anita of Shaheed Bhagat Singh colony said on January 17, her daughter went missing from her home under mysterious conditions and later she came to know that she was kidnapped by the accused on the pretext of marrying her. The police said efforts were on to nab the accused. TNS
