Rail traffic limps back to normalcy

LUDHIANA: After three days of erratic run in the wake of train mishap in Amritsar during the Dasehra celebrations, rail traffic is now limping back to normalcy in the region with most of the cancelled, short-terminated and diverted trains restored.

After three days of erratic run in the wake of train mishap in Amritsar during the Dasehra celebrations, rail traffic is now limping back to normalcy in the region with most of the cancelled, short-terminated and diverted trains restored.

However, three trains still remained cancelled, four were short-terminated/short-originated and two were rescheduled for late departure.

Railway officials said the 12242 Amritsar-Chandigarh Superfast Express, 13152 Jammu Tawi-Kolkata Sealdah Express and 14650 Amritsar-Jaynagar Saryu Yamuna Express were cancelled for the day, while the 15209/10 Saharsa-Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa Express, the 15211/12 Darbhanga-Amritsar-Darbhanga Jannanayk Express remained partially cancelled between Jalandhar City and Amritsar.

In addition, the 14673 Jaynagar-Amritsar Shaheed Express (10 hrs) and the 22423 Gorakhpur-Amritsar Superfast Express (3.15 hrs) were rescheduled. The 22430 Pathankot-Delhi Jn Superfast Express was diverted to an alternative route between Ludhiana and Ambala Cantt.

  • (More than 12 hrs): 18101 Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi Muri Express
  • (More than 9 hrs): 12491 Barauni-Jammu Tawi Maur Dhwaj Express
  • (4 to 8 hrs): 13307 Dhanbad-Firozepur Ganga Sutlej Express, 14649 Jaynagar-Amritsar Saryu Yamuna Express.
  • (1 to 4 hrs): 13305 Howrah-Amritsar Mail, 12331 Kolkata-Jammu Himgiri Express, 15531 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansadharan Express, 11057 CST (Mumbai)-Amritsar Dadar Express, 12317 Kolkata-Amritsar Akaltakht Express, 15209 Saharsa-Amritsar Jansewa Express, 12203 Saharsa-Amritsar Garib Rath Express.
