Storm water drainage project work starts on Gill Road in Ludhiana

To resolve the chronic waterlogging problem at three different locations on Gill Road, Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu on Tuesday launched the Municipal Corporation’s project to install a storm water drainage system. The estimated cost of the project would be around Rs 1.25 crore.

Sandhu said the storm water drainage pipes would be installed near GNDEC College, near Arora Palace and near the MC’s Zone C on Gill Road. The waterlogging during rains is a common problem on these three sites on Gill Road.

Mayor said, “The storm water drainage pipes near Zone C would be connected with the drain passing through Vishwakarma Chowk while the storm water drainage pipes near Arora Palace would be connected to the mainline linked with Balloke. Besides, the drainage pipes near GNDEC would be connected with a pipe passing through the Dugri area.”

Commuters face a lot of problems due to major waterlogging on these three sites on Gill Road. The residents had been demanding from the civic body to resolve the waterlogging problem.

Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu said they are also making efforts to find out waterlogging problem in the Kesar Ganj area of the city.
