Weekend curfew in Ludhiana district from today

Ludhiana, August 21

District Magistrate of Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma today ordered to impose weekend curfew on Saturday and Sunday in all municipal towns of the district from August 22 to 31.

The movement of individuals for all non-essential activities shall remain prohibited between 7 pm and 5 am within the MC limits of the district.

Essential activities, services permitted

However, essential activities and services, movement of persons and goods on national and state highways, inter-state and intra-state movement of persons and unloading of cargo and travel of persons to their destinations after disembarkingfrom buses, trains and aeroplanes will be permitted. Essential services include services, related to health, agricultural and related activities, dairying and fishery activities, banks, ATMs, stock markets, insurance companies, on-line teaching, public utilities, public transport, industry in multiple shifts, construction industry, offices both private and government, media both visual & print etc.

Movement of persons and students in connection with all kinds of examinations, admission/entrance tests conducted by universities, boards and other institutions shall be permitted.

Identity cards carried by persons who fall in the above-mentioned categories will be considered as their curfew passes. No separate curfew pass will be required by them.

According to the orders, the shops/malls are allowed to open till 6:30 pm from Monday to Friday and these will remain closed in all city on Saturday and Sunday.

The shops and malls (dealing in essential commodities) shall remain open till 6:30 pm on all days including Saturday and Sunday. The religious places shall remain open till 6:30 pm all days. Besides, sports complexes, restaurants (including restaurants/hotel in malls) and liquor vends shall remain open till 6:30 pm on all days.

Even-odd system in Ludhiana MC limits

Notably, not more than 50% shops dealing in non-essential commodities shall remain open on a given day within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana. Non-essential shops having even serial numbers will open on even dates and non-essential shops having odd serial numbers will open on odd dates within the jurisdiction of MC Ludhiana. All shops dealing in essential commodities shall remain open on all days till 6:30 pm. There will be no odd-even formula outside the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana.
