Bathinda, April 16
With the Bargari Insaf Morcha’s one-week ultimatum to the Election Commission for reinstatement of SIT member and IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh coming to an end, Akal Takht’s parallel jathedar Dhian Singh Mand today said they would hold a meeting of Panthic forces in Barnala on Wednesday to chalk out their future course of action.
Talking to The Tribune, Mand said, “We will hold deliberations with all Panthic groups and evolve a consensus on how to take the struggle forward. It is a clear case of prejudice. The SIT was conducting a fair probe. It had already arrested two senior police officials. However, the investigation has been influenced due to the poll panel’s move.”
He flayed the Congress government for its alleged failure to take a firm stand on the issue.
Sources said it was not confirmed how many Panthic outfits would turn out at Mand’s meeting, as some of the leaders had fallen out with him after he called off Bargari Morcha. Takht Damdama Sahib’s parallel jathedar Baljit Singh Daduwal, who was one of them, said he hadn’t been contacted by Mand, but he was in touch with Panthic groups and would soon decide a strategy in consultation with them.
