The drama continues to unfold at the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA). Monday was no better. While Rajat Sharma returned to the DDCA premises, nine Apex Council members claimed his return was illegal.

Sharma’s resignation was declined by DDCA’s Ombudsman Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed on Sunday following which the media baron wrote to the DDCA members of his return as the DDCA chief once again. Sharma came to the DDCA office along with police bandobast and five Apex Council members to take charge once again.

“In deference to the orders of Hon’ble Ombudsman, I have assumed the charge of the office of President, DDCA, with immediate effect. I would request you all to cooperate with me in running the affairs of the DDCA in an efficient, honest and transparent manner,” Sharma said in his letter.

He also said the Apex Council meeting that was scheduled to take up his and other officials’ resignations by the breakaway group led by Vinod Tihara cannot be held. “In the light of present developments, no meeting of the Apex Council can be convened without my concurrence. I would, therefore, urge all of you to neither convene nor hold or attend any meeting of the Apex Council which has not been convened by me or has been convened without my concurrence,” he added.

But nine out 15 members, including secretary Tihara, of the council hit back saying as per rules his resignation stands.
