India’s G Sathiyan progressed to the men’s singles third round at the World Table Tennis Championships with a 4-0 win over Russia’s Vladimir Sidorenko here. The world No. 37 from India defeated his 179th-ranked opponent 11-9 11-9 11-8 11-6.

Indian golfers Shiv Kapur and S Chikkarangappa carded a solid 4-under 68 each in the opening round as the Asian Tour made a return to action after 20 months with the Phuket Championship. Kapur and Chikkarangappa were tied-fifth after the opening day. Honey Baisoya, Karandeep Kochhar and Viraj Madappa were tied-10th at 3-under 69. SSP Chawrasia, Ajeetesh Sandhu and Veer Ahwalat were T-24 at 2-under. Jeev Milkha Singh and Khalin Joshi were T-42 at 1-under.
