THE Director of Public Instruction, United Provinces, has sent a warning to Indian publishers that if they continue to publish keys and cram books, which are undesirable, they will not receive the patronage of the Education Department in the shape of recognition of the good books they produce for students. This has evoked protest from the public, because, it is said British publishers of similar books are left uninterfered with and they receive public patronage at the expense of Indian authors and publishers. If true, it deserves careful examination.
