AMRITSAR: Students of Khalsa College, Amritsar, have brought laurels to the institution by winning the overall championship in water sports competition held at Hardo Sharan in Pathankot district.

Amritsar, January 19

Students of Khalsa College, Amritsar, have brought laurels to the institution by winning the overall championship in water sports competition held at Hardo Sharan in Pathankot district. More than 100 students from various colleges affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) participated and competed for the three-day-long championship. Principal Dr Mehal Singh said college students won 35 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals. Dr Daljeet Singh said that in rowing, Khalsa College scored 52 points against Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar’s 50 points and Guru Nanak Dev University’s 41 points. The three institutions bagged the first three positions. In canoeing, Khalsa College scored 23 points and Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, secured 18 points. In kayaking, Khalsa College stood first with 27 points against Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar’s 18 points, winning the overall championship. Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, honorary secretary of the Khalsa College Governing Council, hailed the students. — TNS
