AMRITSAR: It has been around three months since the change of guard in the state.

Amritsar, June 24

It has been around three months since the change of guard in the state. Amritsar Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora expressed resentment over the attitude of Navjot Singh Sidhu and for not giving time to mayors of the municipal corporations in the state. He said the minister did not reply to a letter written by Ludhiana Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, who is the president of the Punjab Mayors’ Council.

The mayors want to discuss the development issues with the minister. According to information, development works in several cities and towns were stopped after the formation of the new government. Bakshi Ram Arora and general secretary of the All India Council of Mayors expressed resentment over attitude of the minister and accused him of not following the protocol.

Bakshi Ram Arora said, “Navjot Singh Sidhu visited the MC office twice after becoming the minister, but he did not invite me for meetings. As per the protocol, he should invite me to discuss the important issues of the city. I am an elected representative. We are not happy with the practice in which the elected representatives are being ignored.” The tenure of the MC House will end on September 19.
