SGPC to honour artisans on Oct 26

AMRITSAR: The SGPC held a meeting with artisans and craftsmen whose ancestors were invited here by the fourth Sikh Master Guru Ram Das, who laid the foundation of Amritsar.

The SGPC held a meeting with artisans and craftsmen whose ancestors were invited here by  the fourth Sikh Master Guru Ram Das, who laid the foundation of Amritsar. 

SGPC chief secretary Dr Roop Singh said research scholars identified them on the basis of 52 trades that were established by Guru Ram Das around the Golden Temple and the walled city. “The identified ones will be honoured during the commemoration of the Guru’s birth anniversary on October 26 by SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal. They will also be a part of the nagar kirtan on the eve of Gurpurb and will board a special vehicle bearing their identification banner,” he said.

Meanwhile, those present on the occasion included SGPC secretaries Diljit Singh Bedi and Manjit Singh Bathh, member Bhai Ram Singh and Golden Temple manager Jaswinder Singh Deenpur.
