Three arrested for burglary

With the arrest of three persons, including a woman, the local police on Sunday claimed to have solved a burglary case within hours of the incident. Those arrested were identified as Rahul Kumar of New Gurnam Nagar, Pradeep Kumar of Nawa Kot and Vishali of Mohkampura. The police have recovered Rs 1.70 lakh besides gold and silver ornaments which they had stolen from the house.

Complainant Ranjit Singh Sodhi had stated to police that he had gone to a kin to attend a function. The house was locked. Upon returning, he found the lock broken and ornaments along with cash stolen. The CCTV footage of the house helped the police identify the suspects.

According to the police, one of the accused was known to the family. He was aware that they were going to attend a Lohri function. He along with others burgled the house.
