Youth murdered by father, brother

In a shocking incident, a 31-year-old youth, identified as Amandeep Singh, was killed by his father and brother after a family dispute here today.

Both the accused, the deceased’s father Santokh Singh and brother Dilbagh Singh, were missing while a case under Section 302, IPC, was registered against them.

According to information, Amandeep Singh used to work as carpenter. Along with his wife Gurpreet Kaur and one-year-old son, Navdeep, he used to live with his father and brother in the Kot Mit Singh area. The two suspects used to ask him to construct an upper storey and live separately. This had become a cause of frequent quarrel in the family.

Balger Singh, father-in-law of the deceased and a resident of Dhand Kasel village, stated to the police that today also they had a dispute. Enraged over the issue, Santokh Singh and Dilbagh Singh attacked Amandeep Singh with bricks and wooden sticks, killing him on the spot.

Neeraj Kumar, SHO, Sultanwind police station, said raids were being conducted to arrest the culprits who were on the run. He said the postmortem examination of the deceased would be conducted tomorrow while further investigations were underway.
