Bathinda, February 15
A bumpy ride awaits you as you travel to the Bathinda domestic airport as the road leading to Virk Kalan village has developed cracks and has caved in at many places.
The stretch leading to airport from Virk Kalan is also in ailing condition with sewage accumulated on the road.
Villagers blame the administration for the poor condition of the road as no repair work has been undertaken.
Many officials of the district administration travel on this route almost every day to welcome dignitaries or to board flights.
Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Virk Kalan, said, “When the airport project was initiated, we were happy expecting that our village would be developed as it had airport. But we are disappointed as nothing has been done by the district administration.”
Another resident Gurmeet Singh said the road leading to the village from the main road has developed cracks at various places, which needed to be recarpeted at the earliest.
Almost all roads leading to airports are in good condition but the Bathinda airport, located 30 km away from the city in a village, is an exception, he added.
