Faridkot, February 13
Burdened with a dossier of litigation after 31 persons challenged the recruitment of 1,263 Multipurpose Health Workers (MPHW), made by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), now in a pre-empt move, the BFUHS and the state Health Department have invited objections from the public before issuing appointment letter to 313 candidates selected for nursing jobs.
These 313 candidates have been selected for the post of nurse in the state Health Department on the basis of a written test and counselling conducted by the BFUHS in October and December 2018, respectively.
As there were some shortcoming in the documents of some of these candidates and they were given time to produce these documents, now after selecting these candidates, the BFUHS and the Health Department have invited objections about the selection of these candidates.
While uploading the list of all selected candidates, the medical university and the Health Department have invited objections on the selection of any candidate before February 14.
By inviting such objections, while the state Health Department does not want to embroil in any controversy and litigation before issuing appointment letter to the selected candidates, the latter said like MPHW, they had to wait for a long time for receiving the appointment letters from the Health Department.
A senior functionary in the health department said they had an unpleasant experience of facing a lot of litigation in the appointment of MPHW. So, suffering with "once bitten, twice shy" syndrome, the department want to invite and sort out the objection on any of the selected candidate among the nurses before giving them appointment letter, he added.
In November 2016, the BFUHS had started the process to fill 1,263 posts of MPHW (Male). Of these, 631 posts were meant for the general category, while the remaining 632 posts were for all reserved categories.
