Chandigarh, September 15

An all-round display by Vaibav Yadav helped visitors Kurukshetra Cricket Association scrape past Chandigarh Cricket Association (affiliated to Haryana) in a low scoring inter-district U-19 championship match at the Sector 16 cricket stadium here today.

Batting first, Chandigarh were all out for a below par 151 in 39.4 overs as Kurukshetra bowlers led by Yadav and Sumit put the hosts on a tight leash. Yadav returned with the figures of 3/17, while Sumit claimed 3/26.

Nikhil Thakur and Nabha got the starts, but failed to convert them into big scores. While Nabha was out for a laboured 67-ball 25, Thakur's patience ran out after scoring 24 runs off 43 balls. Yogesh made a 25-ball 18 before returning to the hut.

In reply, Kurukshetra boys reached home in 37.2 overs with just two wickets in hand. Had it not been for a valiant innings by Yadav, the visitors would have found it difficult to overhaul the target.

Yadav hit a stroke-full 47 off just 44 balls to keep the side in hunt, while Yogesh contributed a valuable 21 to chase.

For the hosts, Rohit Sharma claimed 3/10, while Anant ended the day with 2/38.
