Monarch Goel struck a solid 101 to help Chandigarh score 240 runs against Ambala on the opening day of their Haryana Inter-District U-19 Cricket Championship match at Mahajan Cricket Ground in Mani Majra on Tuesday.

Aman added 31 runs to the total, while Manik chipped in with 25 runs. For the visitors, Abhishek claimed two wickets.In reply, Ambala were struggling on 25/3 at the end of day’s play. 

Paras shines for DAV 

Paras claimed a six-for as DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, registered a 154-run win over St John’s High School, Sector 26, in the ongoing inter-school U-14 cricket championship at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, here on Tuesday.

Batting first, DAV School scored 203 runs in 30 overs with Sohail hitting a brisk 68. Jashan Beniwal made 49, while Paras added 32 runs to the total. Krrish Bhandari was the most successful bowler for St John’s, claiming 3/26. Akshay and Kapil bagged a wicket each.

Chasing 204 runs for victory, St John’s were bowled out for 49 runs as Paras returned with match figures of 6/8.

Krishanshu picked 2/16, while Prince DAhia (1/7) and Gyan (1/7) bagged a wicket apiece. Krrish (23) was the top scorer for St John’s.
