Former Army man held for creating ruckus at hospital

DERA BASSI: The retired Army personnel who created ruckus at a knife-point in Emergency ward at the Dera Bassi Civil Hospital and injured an Assistant Sub-Inspector on Sunday was arrested by the police today.

The retired Army personnel who created ruckus at a knife-point in Emergency ward at the Dera Bassi Civil Hospital and injured an Assistant Sub-Inspector on Sunday was arrested by the police today.

Investigating Officer Balbir Singh said the suspect was spotted roaming on Barwala road by cops who informed the SHO, he said. The IO said the suspect would be produced before a local court tomorrow. As per preliminary investigations, the suspect seems to be mentally upset.

The injured ASI, Gurmukh Singh, has been undergoing treatment at the Dera Bassi Civil Hospital. The ASI said when they tried to stop Gobind Bashish Singh from creating ruckus and asked him to hand over the knife, the latter allegedly attacked him with the knife and then hit him with a glucose rod. He inflicted serious injuries on the ASI’s hands and fled from the spot, said the police.

On the complaint of the injured ASI, the Dera Bassi police had registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC against the suspect.
