Mohali DC wants ex-BDPO booked

MOHALI: Mohali Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra has issued directions to get Kharar’s former Block Development Panchayat Officer (BDPO) booked if he fails to provide accounts of Rs 8.76 lakh released under the MPLAD fund scheme.

Mohali, February 21

Mohali Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Kaur Sapra has issued directions to get Kharar’s former Block Development Panchayat Officer (BDPO) booked if he fails to provide accounts of Rs 8.76 lakh released under the MPLAD fund scheme.

The DC today issued the directions after being apprised by Kharar’s present BDPO Rana Partap Singh of alleged embezzlement of MPLAD funds in question.

Rana Partap wrote to the DC that Jatinder Singh Dhillon, who was posted as the BDPO before him, was not providing the accounts of MPLAD fund of Rs 8,76,780. At present, Dhillon has been put under suspension.

In his letter to the DC, Rana stated that the grant of Rs 10 lakh to Chappar Chiri village and Rs 1.40 lakh to Tangori village were pending, but in the office’s account, the balance was just Rs 2.63 lakh. Due to the lack of funds, the office was unable to pay the grant to the gram panchayats of these villages, said Rana.

Sapra, after getting the communiqué, directed Rana to prepare a report in the case and get Dhillon booked if there was a case of embezzlement. — TNS
