Mohali, June 16

As the Mohali police failed to extract any substantial information from the five arrested Sampat Nehra gang members during the three-day police remand, they were sent to judicial custody by a court on Saturday. The accused were arrested for attempting to murder a cab driver earlier this week.

The arrested members had allegedly hit a cab driver’s motorcycle with their car and taken him to Sohana. They planned to kill him there but a team of the CIA reached the spot and arrested them, while Ankit Bhadu, who was already present there, escaped.

The victim, Varinder Kumar, was attacked as he was in touch with a Hoshiarpur-based girl and the gang members had asked him to stay away from her.
