Mohali, June 24

Dr Sarit Kumar Das, Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, said 90 per cent of teaching must be chalk-board oriented and only 10 per cent should involve PowerPoint presentations.

Das was addressing the faculty development programme (FDP)-2019 organised at the Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, to promote the practical approach in the academic curriculum for bridging the gap between the industry and academia.

He said the Indian Government was also keeping pace with the changes being faced by the education sector. About 69 new faculty members were addressed during the FDP and were made aware of newly launched education policy of India.

Educators and experts from the IIT, IIM, CSIO and Punjab Technical University (PTU) would be addressing the new faculty in the coming two weeks. They will discuss and analyse various aspects beyond curriculum — research and innovation, patents, international exposure, values and ethics, and placement opportunities for professional growth of the students.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, said: “The education sector has been constantly revolutionising and our faculty should stay accustomed to the changes and hence, we have organised the programme to provide our nation builders with an insight into the contemporary education sphere”.
